Dr. Lara Zibners, MD, MMEd, MBA, is reshaping the management of gynecological conditions and empowering women through compassionate, patient-centered solutions. She is a visionary entrepreneur, board-certified pediatric emergency physician, educator, published author, and businesswoman dedicated to transforming women’s healthcare. Splitting time between London, Vienna, and Colorado, she brings a global perspective to healthcare innovation.
With a medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, a master’s degree in medical education from the University of Dundee, and an MBA from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Lara’s expertise bridges clinical practice, executive leadership, and healthcare innovation.
Lara found her passion for changing the landscape for women’s health after enduring seven rounds of IVF. As most women do, she experienced severe physical and emotional trauma as a result of standard drug delivery for fertility and miscarriage prevention. Struck by the hardship women endure during these treatments, Lara co-founded Calla Lily Clinical Care to develop innovative solutions for drug delivery. The startup is pioneering a leak-free, dosage-confident delivery platform for vaginally administered drugs, aiming to improve patient comfort and outcomes.
The company, which has been recognized as a top start-up at the Inaugural MedFemTech Congress in Paris, was born of the commercial endeavor, Callaly, which offered a novel and patented period-care product and was named one of TIME’s Invention of the Year in 2020. Lara was an active investor and clinical advisor to Callaly.
In addition to her work leading Calla Lily Clinical Care, Lara is a medical educator at the Royal College of Surgeons in the United Kingdom and is involved in trauma education and training at the international level. She is the author of If Your Kid Eats This Book, Everything Will Still Be Okay (Hachette, 2009) and has appeared on television and radio, including The Rachael Ray Show, and in print media publications like Working Mother, Parenting, and Men’s Health.
Lara is the mother of two daughters and a son and has a very, very patient husband.
